The bears are in small enclosures without greenery or anything to play with. Deplorable creatures. Takayama is a beautiful place, the bear park is not!

Since there is very little English signages or guide material physically or online, I'm not sure if this is a sanctuary type of facility or a bear breeding place for exhibition purposes, so I have reservation about it after visiting it. The younger bears in the larger common enclosure seem to be comfortable, but there are very limited shades and the bears are mostly exposed to the sun directly throughout the long summer hot days. The individual enclosures for certain bears also seem very restrictive to the animals. Overall, interesting to see the bears in person, but if you are more conscious about animal rights like I am, this is not a place that gives you a good feeling after visiting it.
C	Corentin on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bears are in concrete enclosures, waiting to be fed by the customers. They are used to be cute and to be able to take pictures with their cubs. Feels strange to see them in those cages with no trees or shades. I will let you decide whether you want to go or not.

M	Mak M on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It’s a place other than Zoo that kids can see the real bears in the Bear Park. It’s a good chance for us to educate the kids to love and protect the animals. Staff threw many boxes of apples to feed the bear. I saw the staff brought the baby bears out from the cage to another place kindly. They treated the baby bears well. You can also feed the dried fruits from the vending machine there. Then, bears can have their snacks. But it’s not acceptable for me to find the BEAR OIL there.
I	Ian Chan on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This park is good if you love Japanese black bears. They only have Japanese black bears there. You can purchase bear food to feed them (throw to them... You won't be able to get any closer). The only way to touch a real bear here is to go to the top of the park, where you can hug a baby bear (around 1000 yen) and take photos. There is a souvenir shop at the exit.

But not in all cages conditions are good and the worst are the cubs, they leashed with very short chain and one of them was constantly crying and looked scared, terrible scene. And as mentioned in previous posts, everything is pretty dated.
