★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 沖野城跡は，市の東部にあり，JR仙台駅の南東約4.5㎞，陸上自衛隊霞目飛行場の南側に隣接している。広瀬川によって形成された自然堤防上に立地する。標高は6m前後，遺跡の広がりは，東西約340m，南北約250mで，面積は約70,000㎡である。1677年頃の文献『仙台領古城書上』には「沖野城 四方百間 粟野大膳出城ト云」とあり，遺跡の西方約3.8㎞ の茂ヶ崎城に居を構え，建武年間(1334～1336)から天正年間(1573～1592)にこの地を治めていた粟野氏の出城とされている。旧地名は「沖野字舘」である。
The ruins of Okino Castle are located in the eastern part of the city, about 4.5 km southeast of JR Sendai Station, and adjacent to the south side of the Ground Self-Defense Force Kasumime Airfield. It is located on a natural levee formed by the Hirose River. The altitude is about 6m, the area of the ruins is about 340m from east to west, about 250m from north to south, and the area is about 70,000m2. Around 1677, the document "Sendai Ryokojo Shojo" states "Okino Castle, Shikata Hyakuma, Awano Daizen Deshiro Toun," and settled in Mogasaki Castle, about 3.8 km west of the ruins, during the Kenbu period (1334-1336). It is said that Mr. Awano, who ruled this land during the Tensho era (1573-1592), came from the castle. The old place name is "Okino Tatehigashi".
