★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 独眼竜伊達政宗の隠居城跡ですが、現在は刑務所になっているため外から見ることしか出来ません。中には臥竜梅もあるそうですが、やはり見ることは出来ません。残念ですね。

政宗は仙台城に公的な儀式で赴く以外はこの城を日常の居所としてましたが、政宗の死に伴い城は廃され、その建物は仙台城二の丸等に移築されたと言われています。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 若林城跡は，市の南部にあり，JR仙台駅の南東約3㎞にある。広瀬川左岸の標高約12mの自然堤防上に立地する城郭で，現在は宮城刑務所となっている。面積は約119,600㎡である。初代仙台藩主，伊達政宗によって築かれ，政宗が晩年をすごした城として知られている。築城は寛永4年(1627)～5年であるが，完成後10年たたずして政宗が没し，廃城となる。それから2年後の寛永15年には解体された。城は堀(水濠)と土塁を四方に巡らした平城で，堀を含めた規模は東西約400m，南北約320mである。
The ruins of Wakabayashi Castle are located in the southern part of the city, about 3 km southeast of JR Sendai Station. The castle is located on a natural levee on the left bank of the Hirose River at an altitude of about 12 m, and is now Miyagi Prison. The area is about 119,600 m2. Built by Date Masamune, the first feudal lord of Sendai, it is known as a castle where Masamune spent his last years. The castle was built in the 4th to 5th years of Kanei (1627), but Masamune died 10 years after its completion and it was abandoned. Two years later, it was dismantled in Kanei 15 years. The castle is a flat castle with a moat (water moat) and earthworks in all directions, and the scale including the moat is about 400m east-west and about 320m north-south.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 伊達政宗の晩年の居城ですが、今は宮城刑務所になっています。回りの土塁の上には、高い塀があり中には入れません。
近年発掘がすすめられて、堀や土塁、礎石跡などがはっきりしたようです。
政宗が朝鮮から持ち帰ったと伝えられている天然記念物の臥竜梅もあるのですが、これも見るこはてまきません。
公開日に入ったことがあるのですが、正門を入ったところには、真横に延びた立派な松もあります。蟠龍の松という名前がついてい、仙台市の保存樹になっています。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 伊達政宗が晩年過ごしたと言われる、若林城ですが、宮城刑務所となっています。当然ですが、中には入れません。でも周りのお堀跡等を見ると、やはりお城の跡だなって感じです。ブラタモリを見て、気になったので来てみました?
一周してみたのですが、回りは住宅街です。観光地ではないですが、時間がある人はゆっくりと回るのもありかも?
団子屋？和菓子屋？等も有りますので、ブラブラするのはオススメします❕(くれぐれも観光地と思って行かないで下さいね?)
