前田館跡は，市の南部にあり，JR南仙台駅の南方0.6㎞に位置する。名取川下流域右岸，標高約8mの自然堤防上に立地し，面積は約15,700㎡である。遺跡の南側では，隣接する壇腰遺跡との間に，清水川(清水堀)が流れている。前田館は柿沼氏の居城と伝えられているが，この館の来歴については複数の地誌に記述があるが，内容はそれぞれ大きく異なっている。またこれらの記述は柿沼氏の系図と一致するところが少ない。館跡の時代は南北朝時代～戦国時代にわたるもので，二重の水堀と土塁に囲まれた270m四方に及ぶ平城形式の屋敷であり，周囲の湿原地帯には大小の湖沼や清水堀の流路などが複雑に入り組んだ要害であったとされる。

The site of Maedakan is located in the southern part of the city, 0.6 km south of JR Minami-Sendai Station. It is located on the right bank of the lower reaches of the Natori River, on a natural levee at an altitude of about 8 m, and has an area of about 15,700 m2. On the south side of the ruins, the Shimizu River (Shimizu moat) runs between the adjacent Dankoshi ruins. Maedakan is said to be the residence of Mr. Kakinuma, but the history of this museum is described in several geographies, but the contents are very different. In addition, these descriptions have little agreement with Mr. Kakinuma's genealogy. The era of the mansion dates from the Nanbokucho period to the Warring States period, and it is a 270m square flat castle-style mansion surrounded by double water moats and earthworks, and the surrounding wetlands are filled with large and small lakes and Shimizu moats. It is said that the roads were complicated and intricate.
