★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 釜石でおそらく一番大きな杉の木です。幹の太さや枝ぶり、その太さに圧巻されます。御神木にふさわしく、どっしりと大地を踏みしめるような根張りは、強い安定感を感じさせます。市の天然記念物に指定されています。
釜石の観光のよさは、観光地化されていない名勝が多く、それを近くで鑑賞できることかと思います。古里の御神楽スギもその一つで、是非ご覧頂きたい観光スポットです。
また周辺には、県内では珍しい石積畦畔の田んぼも見ることができます。橋野高炉時代からの石工さんが多くいたことで可能となった技術だそうです。
