Minakamikan is located on the Tone river about 10 mins walk from Minakami station. The hotel itself has a roomy but cozy carpeted foyer with large windows offering a view of the turquoise river below. We didn't take any of the hicking paths in the area but they seemed to be really beautifull.

The standard room is very suitable for a single traveler. I appreciate staffs who did best for us. Front desk clerk was extremely helpful in helping me with a special request. Most people are willing to accommodate your needs. There is no need to keep looking for a great place.

I found the rooms to be perfect for a flying visit. The friendly and helpful staff provided me with a map and helped me find things I needed within the little village. Basically, the location is top notch. The onsens are nice and basically opened 24 hours with the exception of cleaning times.

Hotel has a lot of onsens (tattoo friendly) but is laid out strangely. The amenities of the hotel were very nice. The hotel's location is very convenient as you can walk almost anywhere. I found the entire hotel to be very clean. I felt the price was reasonable at approx.

Minakami is a sleepy town where mostly elderly are spotted running restaurants, farmers cultivating vegetables to serve in hotels. Very peaceful place during off peak season. This hotel offers semi outdoor and in door onsen. Onsen are cleaned daily from 10am to 1pm. Good place for family where you can get rooms which sleep up to 5 person.

We have stayed at the hotel on previous visits. We would go back in a heart beat. The bathroom was a great size. The real appeal of this hotel is its numerous (more than 15) beautifully constructed baths, located in the lower levels of the building. The bed was the most comfortable we have slept in.

What a marvelous and intriguing stay. The website promised a remarkably refreshing experience that, although it did not quite live up to, was certainly memorable. The hotel had once seen much better days, perhaps in the years of the owner’s grandfather. It once even boasted a stay by the Emperor. Unfortunately, nothing in the hotel seems to have been updated since. All the furniture is torn and worn, and not in the wabi-sabi way, in the wobbly-shabby way. The fridge in the rooms is not stocked, the soap dispenser not full. The room is clean, but the slippers are tattered and the walls are stained. The futon are clean, but dare not go out on the balcony. The food was delightfully bland, and even picturesque once all the puzzle pieces were finally brought to the table. Unassociated sauces and miscellaneous parts which never quite made a whole meal nevertheless made for an exciting adventure. And ah yes, one can’t overlook the creativity of the fig pudding that contained not one fig, but plenty of sprinkles and whipped cream. It would surely be a delight for all toddlers right up to age seven. If you do happen to have screaming, raucous hellspawn toddlers, this is certainly the place for you, since there seemed to be plenty of them. The baths were also a hoot, with crumbling, rotting wood, ladies’ personal amenity bags all over the entirety of the very communal shower area, and a full-on zoo of insects ranging from tiny buyo all the way up to golf-ball sized spiders keeping you company by floating mere inches from you in all baths at all times. Still, if you’re on a tight, tight budget, have a gaggle of rugrats in tow, and are fine with the rustic taste of Showa, this may be what you’re looking for in an onsen.

Awesome historical hotel full of owner's passion about the Cristal stones and hot springs. The combination of hot springs and Crystal and the water stream BGM was so precious that made me feel refluxed! I will surely visit again.
