★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There are some Western friendly places and a few shops so you don't get bored. Enough room for the kids to run around in. The Hotel: Breakfast was included in our rate and it had a mix of Western and Japanese food. Everyone at the hotel were fantasticcan't fault the service.

Everywhere is close in Nozawa and the town was very interesting for skiers and non skiers. I would highly recommend staying there to anyone else interested and can't wait to return myself.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Cool traditional styled room hotel. The staff are very helpful and it's an easy stroll down the road to the restaurants. The breakfast buffet was a mix of asian and western styles. There's enough choices for breakfast. The set menus for dinner were terrific with ***y dishes and a ton of food.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There are great places to ski in and out of the trees provided you had fat powder skis so you don't get stuck. The hotel is conveniently located. The actual room was very nice. We were hardy travellers and enjoyed all the snow and ice in town but you'll want to be fairly agile.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you want a traditional experience of Japanese ski culture then this is your place. Great reception staff. Excellent hotel breakfast with an awesome view. The hotel staff booked us a mini van and tickets to the snow monkeys, which was excellent. There's a bit of a long walk to the ski lifts over icy roads but you can store your skis and boots at the base of the chair lifts in a downstairs ski hire place. (ouch! -stairs) Lots of beginner and intermediate ski runs. Don't get caught on a slope that only has a black run as your only option to get down if you aren't confident! This old fashioned hotel has smoking and non smoking rooms - we booked too late and ended up with a really, really, really stinky room - no hanging space to dry your clothes or baggage space. No drying room in the hotel. Laundry is about $2 Aus dollars but no drying. The onsen is an experience, there is an indoor one for each gender and an outside one for men and women. Naked only! no togs. Wifi not great. Beds weren't comfy. Pillows have beads on one side and feathers on the other side. Hotel price quite expensive for small 'family' rooms but the staff helped us book a different restaurant every night in town so they worth it. Front walkway through the car park very slippery with constant stream of water flowing so it was scary to walk on the black ice without a helmet. Cute town. Get to the bus early on your day of departure (if it's a Saturday), there is a line of over a hundred with at least a 30-40 min wait while extra buses are ordered.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely charming and as a foreigner , it gave my family possibly a real taste of what Japan is really like. We were lucky enough to have a large room with it’s own private onsen looking out into the ski fields - poor season in Jan 2020 !!
Only real drawback and which is why my family would not go back , it is a long walk or bus ride to ski fields especially if you are use to ski in / ski out facilities. It can take about 20 - 40 minutes in travelling time to get to the ski fields
