★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Looks great, but the 3 quarters of the trail had been closed since the last typhoon ruined the path.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely valley with waterfalls. Autumn is a good time to go to see the fall colors. Decent hike around the area.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Thought it was going to be easy hiking but I was wrong. Make sure to wear proper boots and gloves. It's rewarding experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great spot - roughly 10km loop w/ a few mountain trails that connect at various points. Only walked a bit of it, but I'm definitely planning to return to do the whole thing.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I did a number of day hikes in Japan in forest/mountain areas and wanted to experience a different environment. I found Nishizawa Valley gorge to be the perfect change in scenery. It was a 14km 3.5hr walk. I travelled 3hrs from Tokyo by train then bus. It was completely worth it. I went in late September. No one else was there which made it more magical. It rained half the time but it didn't dampen our experience. The walk starts very easy and you see some concrete falls - not very impressive. As you continue, the trail goes alongside the gushing gorge for much of the trail. This was beautiful beyond words. Great care must be taken on wet rocks.
Do yourself a favour and go!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful trail even after the leaves have fallen. Trail was damaged so access after 三重の滝 is closed. Access to other side of loop trail was also closed. It was disappointing but I hope the trail will be repaired soon!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great place to refresh soul and body. The waterfalls and the woods are beautiful. Prepare for 2h of rough terrain with ups and downs followed by 1 hour of sloppy walking. After heavy rain, some parts are super muddy, and 2-3 meters where you have to go barefoot knee-deep into the water to cross. Bring a towel!
