★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 国道と合流した先の小深沢橋に「小深沢入口」の道標があり、左手の沢に下る。200mほどで小深沢を越える。この沢からの昇り階段が古道の風情を高めてくれるロケーションだ。芭蕉と曽良が通った頃は、出羽街道の中で険しい沢の一つで、深い谷底へ下りて越さなければならないつづらおりの道だった。その後も六曲りの坂を上り下りしなければならない難所だった。元禄古図に「小深沢 歩渡幅二間、深さ二寸、小深沢坂長さ46間、難所御座候」と書かれている。
There is a sign of "Kofusawa entrance" on the Kofusawa Bridge, which merges with the national highway. It crosses Kofusawa at about 200m. When Basho and Sora passed, it was one of the steepest rivers on the Dewa Highway, and it was a spelling path that required you to go down to the deep valley bottom. After that, it was a difficult place to go up and down the six-bend slope. On the Genroku Kozu, it is written as "Kobukazawa: 2 steps in width, 2 inches in depth, 46 in Kobukazawa slope, Gozazoku of a difficult place".
