森	森上智央 on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 1886年、国鉄信越本線関山駅 - 直江津駅間の開通と同時に開業。国鉄時代から長らく在来線の拠点駅として機能しており、1987年のJRグループ発足後は信越本線を管理するJR東日本と、北陸本線を管理するJR西日本の境界駅でもあった。全ての特急列車が停車し「はくたか」「北越」「トワイライトエクスプレス」などの特急列車は当駅で乗務員の交代を行っていた。 2015年（平成27年）3月14日に北陸新幹線・長野駅 - 金沢駅間が延伸開業した際に、JR東日本が管理していた信越本線の妙高高原駅 - 当駅間と、JR西日本が管理していた北陸本線の市振駅 - 当駅間は並行在来線としてえちごトキめき鉄道へ移管され、路線名を「妙高はねうまライン」と「日本海ひすいライン」にそれぞれ改称した。 In 1886, it opened at the same time as the opening of the section between Sekiyama Station and Naoetsu Station on the Shin-Etsu Main Line. A	AnchorBlues on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 北陸の拠点駅の一つ。駅舎や車両基地など構内施設の大部分はえちごトキめき鉄道が管轄しているそうで、確かに「jrが乗り入れている駅」感はあまりありません。駅の建物からも「jr」の表記が取り払われてしまいました。（一応今でも信越本線の柏崎方面の列車は走っているというのに）長大なホームを思いっきり持て余しながら入線してくる1〜2両編成の列車の様子は、哀愁を通り越してもはや可愛らしさすら感じられます。最近はえちごトキめき鉄道がこの駅から455系急行を運行してくれており、往年の優等列車街道の輝きを垣間見ることが出来ます。（余談ですが、直江津といえば、時刻表さまざまな寝台列車が非常に夜遅くの時間帯に停車していた駅という印象が強いです。） One of the base stations in Hokuriku. D	Da Rirai on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I'm so very sad today when i get off the train to katamachi station i gave the wrong kippu to the driver i dont know what is the date of it maybe its last week.. i have 3 kippu in my bag 9.4, 9.23 todays date and the other one that i gave to the driver.. it so sad that they think i didn't buy a ticket.. so very sad and nervous for today,then i pay another ¥240 ..its not about the money its about what they think of me and the driver also i cant forget the way he looked at me ?????????????????????. huhuhuhuhu

The Umigatari Aquarium and Naoetsu Beach are about 15 minutes on foot, while Kota Shrine and Gochi Kokubunji can be reached in about 30 minutes from the station. The surrounding restaurants provide delicious and traditional Joetsu cuisine such as Suru Ten and the newly developed White Yakisoba, as well as some of the best sushi in town.
