R	Richard Navarro on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome experience! Not only is it a good show but the mochi was amazing in my opinion! It came out nice and warm and had great flavor! Perfectly powdered and a nice nutty taste with the right amount of red bean in the middle. They serve it quick so be ready to enjoy! We were lucky enough to see the show! If you have the time it's a great 2 minutes to spend watching in Nara! I'd go again even just to enjoy the mochi!

Mochis are soft rice cakes - made from sweet glutinous rice wrapped around red bean pastes. This store is particularly famous for this. Dubbed the fastest mochi pounders in the East too ? for the owners super fast, injury defying pounding and shaping of the rice cake (one pounds, the other reaches in to fold the dough within seconds of each other!) We were unlucky, we were in Nara during a rainy day and we missed the mochi making show by a few minutes ? but if you're curious, just Google them, plenty of videos around. Other than this, the mochi itself was delicious... Soft and gooey outside, sweet on the inside... Delicious! Miss it!
