★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I ordered エビ天丼定食. For a bowl of rice, you get options from 120g to 500g of a bowl and without an extra charge if you choose the largest bowl of rice. The meal and its price were pretty good. Their 定食 also has soup and a bowl of shredded cabbage. I think the meal worths the price of ¥880. :-)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really kind owner that spoke to us in English! Great place to get an authentic bite of soba/udon and tempura. Big portions and great prices in an awesome neighborhood filled with great options. My wife and I are definitely coming back for another date night.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazingly delicious tempura and soba with lots of different spice options and free tea. The dishes were beautiful and the owner very friendly, too. One of the best meals I’ve had in the three weeks I spent in Japan. Highly recommended! 美味しい！

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Never visited the store directly but had ordered few times via Uber Eats. The portion size is big with good taste. What I like about this shop is on the lid containers for takeaways, there's always handwritten quote from famous people.

Great food, relaxing atmosphere. Their tempura is one of my favourites. The portions were filling, but light. The food did not give me the heavy feeling fried foods usually give. You also get to choose how much rice you want.
The sweet potato ice-cream was also great. It was not too sweet, and a great dessert to end a great meal.
The owner and staff are very hospitable and friendly. Menus are available in English but they can also speak some English. (We were explained which sauces go with which dish.)
Would highly recommend!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Affordable and delicious ! The manager was super friendly, even if he didn't speak english much, he really tried to know us, and make us at ease. He even offered us cute origamis !
The portions were huge and the price low !
I'll totally recommend this place, and come by another time :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good to have a tempura lunch after the hiking in Kifune Shrine. The environment here is good and the owner is full of hospitality. It’s nice to all the travelers and Kyoto free WiFi is available .

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I love tempura but allergic to shrimps, Motokame introduced different types of meats for tempura with very reasonable price so we ordered chicken tempura which is unbelievably soft and delicious.The place is easy to find near Ichijoji tram station,it is so well decorated with nostalgic posters; in addition to these,the owner is very friendly and helpful so ,all in all, two thumbs up for Motokame.
