This park is so perfect for cherry blossom viewing with friends :D the castle isn’t there anymore but the area is lined with trees and flowers and you can just set down a picnic blanket just about anywhere. There is also public bathrooms along the walkway, although be warned, they are Japanese squat toilets with no toilet paper.

This place is so cool! Its got a really nice open atmosphere to it and and its not too crowded in the late fall. The leaves stay on the trees quite late here so even in late November I saw fall colors.

Quiet place for a morning stroll. The entire park is actually quite big with many trees and fresh air around.

Great views of Morioka city from the top of verandah of the Castle ruins. Beautiful during sakura season with full blossom of sakura overlooking the city

I learnt a bit of history here! Morioka is Victoria, Bristish Columbia's sister city. Nice totem pole in the park to celebrate the friendship between the cities. It is a beauty green lush space. You can really relax here and enjoy the views while learning a bit about the ruins and musuems nearby. Parking is a bit pricey as the rate on the street charges you ¥200/hour or underground parking lot charges you ¥150/half hour.

Visited too early, so didn't get to see sakuras. Also, it rained beforehand so the entire park was muddy and empty. Nonetheless, it gave the park a hauntingly calm feel. While I didn't get to see any flowers, i can imagine how the place will look covered in sakuras! Def a must visit if you come during the sakura season!

It’s not bad, but the overall size of the park is small. Landscaping needs some work which brings the rating down. Still, if you’re in the area this place still commands a visit.
