 It's on the back side of Sakurayama Shrine, and when you turn from the shrine side, you suddenly come into view, so I was overwhelmed!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ お城の工事で出てきた巨岩で、守り神として崇められていたとのこと。烏帽子に見える形が特徴。表側は、桜木神社の横にある階段から上って行けます。裏側は三の丸から行けます。
It was a huge rock that came out of the construction of the castle and was worshiped as a guardian god. Features a shape that looks like a hat. On the front side, you can go up the stairs next to Sakuragi Shrine. The back side can go from Sannomaru.

盛岡城築城の際に上の石を掘り進めていったら、巨石が出てきて、形が烏帽子に似ているので、烏帽子岩。 桜山神社の本殿横にあります。
はるか昔の事だけど、岩を取り除こうとして掘り出したらどんどん大きな岩が出てきた！なんて姿をイメージすると楽しいよなぁ～

If you dig up the stone above when Morioka Castle was built, a huge stone comes out and the shape resembles that of a cocoon hat. Next to the main hall of Sakurayama Shrine.
It was a long time ago, but when I dug up to remove the rocks, bigger rocks came out! It's fun to imagine what it looks like ~

烏帽子岩（兜岩）：盛岡城築城時、この地を掘り下げたときに、大きさ2丈ばかり突出した大石が出てきました。
この場所が、城内の祖神さまの神域にあったため、宝大石とされ、以後吉兆のシンボルとして広く信仰され、災害・疫病があった時など、この岩の前で平安祈願の神事が行われ、南部盛岡藩の「お守り岩」として今日まで崇拝されています。
