★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 鎌倉時代に作られた鋳鉄製の湯船。重要文化財。銘によると元は弥栄町の興法寺の大湯屋にあったもの。現在は智恩寺の境内で手水鉢として使用されている。
Bathtub made of made in Kamakura period cast iron. Important Cultural Property. According to the inscription originally what was in large bathhouse of Koboji of Yasaka-cho. It is currently being used as a chōzubachi in the precincts of Chionji.

「正応三?庚寅□月□日、大工山河貞清」の鋳出銘がある。正応3年は西暦1290年で鎌倉時代のものということになる。まったく同じ銘がある同型の鉄湯船が天橋立の反対側の成相寺にあるのも興味深い。あちらも同じ日に重要文化財に指定されている。
It was designated as a national important cultural property on June 5, 1982.
There is an inscription of "Shosan? Yang Metal Tiger □ Month □ Day, Carpenter Sadakiyo Yamakawa". The 3rd year of Shosho is 1290 AD, which means that it is from the Kamakura period. It is also interesting that there is an iron bath of the same type with the exact same name at Nariaiji Temple on the other side of Amanohashidate. That is also designated as an important cultural property on the same day.
