★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 徳川幕府初代将軍の徳川家康公と水戸徳川家の藩祖、徳川頼房公を祀る神社。
水戸駅から徒歩5分ほどの立ち寄りやすい位置にあります。
階段を登ると金色に装飾された立派な唐門が出迎えてくれます。門をくぐれば、梅の花が描かれた美しい天井が見事です。旧社殿は先の大戦の水戸空襲で焼けてしまったそうですが、立派に復興していると思います。
境内の展示室には、移動式茶室や日本初の戦車？といった他の神社ではあまり見かけないちょっと珍しい展示があります。
御朱印の対応も丁寧でした。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's a small shrine with a pretty golden gate. There are several events throughout the year. If you visit Mito, I recommend taking a look, is very close to the station.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Came here for a short trip with classmates. This temple doesn't have sprawling grounds like Meiji Jinggu, Kiyomizudera or Engkakuji types but it serves its' purpose of what a typical Japanese temple does - offering prayers & omikuji (note: it is written in Japanese only, no English translation) to devotees.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Tucked away near Mito Station this shrine offers a pleasant place to visit. After climbing up an impressive staircase you find yourself in the shrine grounds and the sounds of the city fade away. After praying head over and grab an omikuji then explore the grounds. Definitely on my list of places to visit whenever I'm in Mito.
