★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice place to see the museum of Besshi. Slso a great place to take kids as there is a park and activities for kids in the mine museum. Great place to come in autumn.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went to this elaborate o-sen-to (public bathing establishment) twice during my stay at Zuio-ji monastery, which is nearby. The facilities are marvelous. What a contrast to (and relief from) the constraints of monastery living. I recall the entry fee not being excessive, and unpretentious food is available, as well as a host of souvenirs. Westerners are advised to learn how to use Japanese bathing facilities beforehand, and to remember that persons with obvious tattoos won't be admitted.
