But unlike in Tokyo where there are a lot of restaurants where cooked seafood is served, here are more related to sashimi and grilled fish. Next to the fish market, there are vegetable and meat markets and there are more restaurants. Yet, price is definitely a lot cheaper here. After all, Niigata is a small compared to Tokyo :)

Be sure to check availability and reservation of BBQ and seats before hand. BBQ season starts in summer months. I enjoyed original flavored ice cream at Hang Loose. The seasonal flavor was Tomato at the time.

It is like in between old marketplace and fancy marketplace. There are fish market, meat market, and grocery store. Very clean and some options for restaurants as well. Closed to Sado ferry terminal.
