★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 西馬込駅から徒歩で15～6分の場所に有る。標識によると坂名の由来は、坂のあたりに臼田姓の家が多かったらしい。実に分かりやすいですね。坂周辺には大正末期から昭和初期にかけ、萩原朔太郎、川端康成、石坂洋次郎など多くの作家が住んでいた。また、坂上には「子育地蔵尊」があるが、この地蔵は臼田家の先祖が故郷の甲州から運んだものであると言われている。

Around the slope, from the end of the Taisho era to the early Showa period, many writers lived such as Shintaro Sugawara, Yasunari Kawabata, and Yojiro Ishizaka. In Sakagami, there is a “child-rearing Jizouson”, which is said to have been brought from the home of Koshu by the ancestors of the Usuda family.
