★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 元々貨物線だったが、電化の上旅客線化したもの、旅客駅はすべて新設駅で有り、現在は15分ヘッドの運転で新大阪～久宝寺まで運転されている。
電車は鶯色の201系と呼ばれる車両で、大和路線の普通列車と共有される。
南吹田駅はそれまで、交通の空白地域になっていた南吹田地区にとって朗報で、新大阪方面への移動が格段に楽になったのは特筆される
駅は、関連会社による委託のため時間帯によっては無人化されるのはやむを得ないところか
新しい駅のため、バリアフリーには配慮されており、エレベーターの他エスカレータも完備されている。
ただし、駅前広幅大きいものの、何もなく、近くにコンビニがある程度である。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 2019年3月16日、おおさか東線の駅として開業しました。開業当時は、上下線とも15分間隔で運行されています。この近郊は、バスの運行も少あまりなかったところなので、開業により状況がどのように変化するか気になっています。駅前ロータリーはタクシーの停車スペースがあるものの、客待ちしているタクシーを見ていません。これからの発展に期待です。おおさか東線の新駅らしく、デジタル案内板で駅時刻表や地域地図が確認できて、とても便利です。
On March 16, 2019, we opened as a station of Osaka East. At the time of opening, both the upper and lower lines are operated at intervals of 15 minutes. Since there are not so many bus operations in this suburban area, I am curious how the situation will change due to opening up business. Rotary station railway station has a taxi stop but there is no taxi waiting for customers. It is expected for future development. It seems like Osaka East Line's new station, it is very convenient to check the station timetable and area map with digital guide board.

この辺りは交通空白地帯だったこともあり周囲は辺鄙な印象を受けます。この南吹田駅近開業により周囲がどの様に変貌して行くのか非常に興味があります。
新大阪へは2分で到着、JR淡路から阪急京都線と千里線へもアクセス可能、更に京阪本線、JR学研都市線、大阪メトロ中央線、近鉄奈良線・大阪線、そしてJR大和路線へのアクセスが可能となった路線です。今後は大阪北梅田への新線への乗り入れも視野に入れているようですので、今後ますます目が離せない路線になります。
