豪農としての歴史はもちろんですが、明治維新以降も道路の整備や鉄道の敷設、発電所建設、スキー場の整備等地元の近代化へ多大な貢献があったことを知ることができました。また、期間限定ですが戊辰戦争から150年ということで小出島の戦いに関する展示も行われており、内容的に充実していました。
