It seems that Nakayama Jinya was moved to Matsuyama Castle as it was and there was no castle tower or turret. Currently, only Otemon remains, and it is the only existing castle building remains in Yamagata Prefecture and is a cultural property designated by the prefecture. The ruins of the castle have been maintained as Matsuyama Historical Park, and the earthworks that remain in the main enclosure have been designated as historic sites.
