Located on the east of Sports facility of Takaragaike Park near Kitsunezaka slope is a shrine called Iwagami Shrine. " Iwagami " meand " Up on the rock ". It was given such name since this place enshrines a large chuk of rock as its deity called " Iwagami Dai Myo-jin " protecting the ground at the foot of the mountain which contains a lot of rock. ( This part of the mountain is called Rinzan ). According to the histotry, many people visited here for its deity which offers blessing for cattles and horses for agricultural prosperity and to people in the business of fishery.
Along the way toward the bypass on your right you will come across this remain of well called " sakurai Mizu ". It is believed this welll surrounded by rocks is the remain of ancient Sakuraigu which belonged to Emperor Gotoba. This well was also depicted in the story of Makurano Soshi written by famous old-time poet Seisho Nagon and a poem written by Murasaki Shikibu as a well which constantly supplies water and never dries. Iwagami Shrine is located on a stone wall like a mountain castle next to the “Kyoto City Takaraike Park Sports Facility” on the east side of “Kisunezaka” that runs from Kitayama Street to Takaragaike. The name was given to "Japanese historical place name system / Kyoto city place name" because it was named as a natural rock made of natural rock without a shrine. This area has many exposed rocks and pine trees. It has been known for a long time as a place of cleanliness, but it is estimated that our company was also a place of the ancient ritual scorpio faith, with the background of the forest. The monument says, "There used to be a light in the sea of Hyogo in the past. Search for the light of the Gokoku monk, get this stone, call it Iwagami Daimyojin, and begin to indulge in this." It is said that there were many people who worshiped as a fisherman and god of cow and horse. On December 5th, there will be a fire festival. Along the way toward the bypass on your right you will come across this remain of well called "sakurai Mizu". story of Makurano Soshi written by famous old-time poet Seisho Nagon and a poem written by Murasaki Shikibu as a well which constantly supplies water and never dries.
You can experience the praying worship of Primitive Bandai. The mountains of Matsugasaki are surprisingly deep and have many boulders. (However, the stone here seems to have brought something that was shining under the sea in Hyogo)

The Swords Iwakami Shrine, which settles down under a gentle overpass leading to Takaga Pond. Scorpio is enshrined at the end of a simple worship hall. It also seems that the form of ancient faith can be admired. It is said that it was pulled up from under the sea in Hyogo and was hit by this land, but if that is true, what is the source of the passion that gives that much effort? If the rock of this place from the beginning, where did such a legend be born? .
