Delicious food, I recommend the gratin of oysters and the sashimi plate of the day. Staff with a very good English level, pleasant ambient

Very few restaurants are open past 5pm, and the ones that are have last seatings at 7/8pm. This one is open until 10pm. We found ourselves here twice because it was the only option, but we're not disappointed. We tried the eel dishes and oysters the first time, which was decent. The second time we tried the fried oyster curry dish and beef tendon stew. I really enjoyed the curry, it's a thick sauce and the portion size was good. The staff are friendly and quick. There are also carafes of cold tea, which was nice after a long day of hiking.

It doesn't matter what rating this place has - because if you're on the island after about 7pm, it's the ONLY place open! Luckily, there's nothing wrong with their beer and menu selection. They even had a local cider that was great. Oysters are a specialty on Miyajima, and I had the fried oyster curry, which was tasty. They only real negative is that they're a bit pricey. But, as mentioned, you really don't have a choice if you're staying on the island.

Eel dishes are delicious. Staff speaks good english and are super kind. They have a cheap happy hour from around 4 to 6:30pm and are one of the few - and likely the best - restaurant open late afternoon. This is the place to end your day after seeing the sunset at the Torii or just spent some hour waiting for it.

A great place with lots of delicious options, the menu has photos and explanation in English, Tony the owner is a good host and has an original hotpot that is so amazingly tasty! The place has good vibes and all waiters speak English well. Also you can charge your phone and connect to wifi. Try the grilled or fried oysters, the broiled or grilled eel are amazing too.

MameTanuki is one of the few restaurants open for dinner on Miyajima. Lack of serious competition aside, MameTanuki offers excellent food choices at surprisingly reasonable prices and served by a team of attentive staff. The one staff who speaks English well was quite busy serving tables with tourists. Even though he was non-stop busy, we were never neglected. Everything we ate was delicious. Everything we had, I would order again. It’s hard to pick a favorite among our selection, but the oysters, from the daily specials, definitely stood out. If you are in Miyajima, check it out.

A Great Late Night spot! Extensive Menu! You can take it slow! English ***** YES! I was out late on Miyajima Island. Everyone was closing but for some reason this oddly cute raccoon themed japanese restaurant was open! Well we were lucky to get a seat and enjoyed some pretty amazing oyster infused bento served in a beautiful ceramic box. It was one of their recommended dishes so we went with it. We thought it would be a safe bet...But it turns out, it was more than that! The oysters so well delicately prepared over a bed of rice which was infused by the almost woodsy smokey flavors of the oysters sitting above. It was accompanied by a set with miso soup, picked vegetables, and japanese seaweed to eat with the rice? We also ordered these sort of encrusted seasoned oysters with a baguette slices and "Green" Hiroshima Lemon apparently! That was pretty awesome! Looks can be deceiving especially when there is a large raccoon outside, but it was a surprise of flavours! Also we found it's connected to a hotel called Kinsuikan Hotel which apparently has a very long history on Miyajima. Go enjoy this! It was worth it! Especially if you are eating late!

This place is fantastic. Recommend having two small dishes for dinner as one may not be enough. I had tempura conger eel and sautéed oysters for main. The volume is more like a largish tapas. With an extra serving of baguette his was perfect as I could mop up the extra herb olive oil and enjoy the Joyce’s from cooking. With a nice bottle of French wine, this was perfect with a great atmosphere at the counter and terrific service.
