Thank you very much for your continued support.We have an announcement to make to our customers.

We have received a request from the management company of the warehouse that KYOTO Butoh-kan was using as a theater to terminate the lease contract in order to prevent the spread of the corona virus and because they would like to use the warehouse for other purposes.
After discussions among the parties concerned to find a solution, we had no choice but to cancel performances at the theater as of May 31, 2021.

Since 2016, when the theater opened as a dedicated Butoh theater, we have had three long-running productions and many visitors from not only Japan but also 69 countries around the world.
Thank you very much for your support.

In the future, we will continue to seek ways to restart our activities while taking into consideration the social situation and other factors, and we plan to continue our activities on the web, including archiving Butoh videos.

The intensity of seeing such a skilled artist in such an intimate setting is truly a life changing experience. If you’re reading this and contemplating a ticket stop and purchase it right away. You won’t regret it.

The show is not for everybody but if you want a very avant-garde dance performance where the performer is close enough to look you in the eye you should go. I will if possible return.

The performer i watched male and basically naked so be sure the people you go with are comfortable with that. Would I recommend this? Definitely. It was a unique experience that made me want to look more into the history of this art form.

You will never experience something else like this! But please be silent and keep your phone off (light and sound) during the 50 min event. Highly recommend!

J	J B on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ How great was this performance. Love it.. it was the most amazing, surreal experience. I can't speak of how highly I think this place/experience was. The dancer and staff were very professional. Everybody who attends has such a different experience.. one of the audience members started laughing through one of the scenes(!?!) The entrance adds to the atmosphere of the experience. There were only five of us in the studio/theatre which creates a very intimate atmosphere. I would recommend. If you like expressionism and have an open mind, you will like it more.
