Fruits are marked as "do not touch", then, they pick for you from another box. The whole top layer of my 10,800 yen box of mikan were far underripe and inedible, the peel does not even come off easily. The employee asked if we were gifting or eating and we said we were eating soon. All mikan in my photo were from the same box and location. You can tell how cleanly the left one's skin came off, indicating it is ready to eat. My last box last year from Ginza was perfect, this time we left it almost untouched for a week because it was undesirable... my hotel breakfast mikans were better. I feel bad for having wasted money.
