Really cute hotel. The staff are friendly and always around to help. Their English is limited but they really do try their best to communicate. The baths are nice and not too busy. Location is great, just a few minutes walk from where everything is happening and there's a frequent shuttle bus to and from the bus station. The rooms are really cute and they come in and change between daytime and nighttime set up whilst you're out.

Hotel is clean and pleasant but could do with a refurbishment. The bath facilities were rather old and the outdoor bath for the female bath in the evening was so small. I like the rest area near the bath with cold water provided and relaxing Nora Jones music playing. There is an outdoor footbath near the hotel entrance. Location wise, it's very near to the Sainokawara Park and outdoor bath which was lovely. And about 7 min walk from Yubatake, but there are shops and restaurants along the way.

Love this traditional Japanese hotel so much! It is very quiet and convenient in the same time. It has a outdoor foot bath session where you can chill and relax. It also provide both public and private onsen (1000 yen). The onsen water made my skin extremely soft after soaking in it. The hotel staffs were extremely friendly and helpful! Thumbs up to them

It's a great exoerit if you've never been to a Japanese style hotel before. Other than that I found it rather bare. How to explain. You pay mostly for the huge rooms and the above and beyond polite staff. The onsen part is tiny and as a woman you will not have access to the nicer outdoor garden at peak bathing time (7:30pm+). It's slightly off the centre so you won't see the open air onsen from here. Breakfast was below expectations for this place. They seemed very stressed out by it, too. The park is right next to the hotel. Small foot bath available as well as coffee at reasonable times. Not sure if I would come back. I'd definitely try another hotel first to see how it compares. The cozy factor was just not here that I am used to from Ryokans.

Very nice traditional (architecture, interior design, decoration) hotel with great bath facilities. 7 min walk from central downtown restaurant area. Friendly staff. First time I reserve this type of hotel and does not include dinner nor breakfast, so had to dine at local restaurants. Tatami room for 4 was simply elegant and nice too. Free coffee at lobby.

A lovely traditional ryokan - we booked a family room which was actually the size of two rooms put together and it was awesome to have so much space! The location was great, a few min walk into the old town and the yubatake. It’s also well located to go to the Sai-no-Kawara park and outdoor Onsen, which is fabulous! We didn’t sample the dinner at the hotel but ordered breakfast and it was a delicious Japanese breakfast. The hotel itself is large enough and old style, however they have renovated the restaurant and Onsen part and I really don’t like it (hence 4* instead of 5* in my rating); it’s very cold, clinical and soulless looking, especially the bath area. Looking at the Google photos of the older reviews, it looks so much nicer to me! I am a fan of old style japan! Lastly I will add that the lobby and the cafe room (with free coffee) are lovely and cozy; I’ve enjoyed some relaxing time there. Outside the cafe, there’s a lovely foot bath; it was enjoyable on a very cold snowy day ;-)

Beautiful building with modern touches! Amazing cost performance. The location is 10min walk to the central Kusatsu (Yubatake) and right next to the Saino Kawara Koen, which is beautiful and fun to walk around. Dinner course comes with a fine dish of a whole abalone! The hotel room is beautiful but we heard some noises from the floor above us. Except for that, I highly recommend this beautiful hotel.

A very nice hotel with a beautiful and clean onsen. The room is spacious and all necessary amenities are provided. The breakfast was a Japanese style that was satisfying. The hotel location is between Yubatake and close to the Sainokawara park which makes its location ideal to explore the town. The staff was nice and they guided us at the check in through the Ryokan. There is also a foot bath where you can enjoy coffee while soaking your feet in the amazing kusatsu hot springs water.
