長い間棒線駅だったが、2009年の複線化で2面2線にグレードアップされた。
周囲に商業施設などはなく、普通列車しか停車しない。
駅南側の踏切が通る道路が早島町と倉敷市の境界となっている。
駅名の久々原とは早島町前潟の小字だが、なぜ前潟駅とならなかったのか？
それは早島町の中心駅である早島駅も前潟にあるため前潟駅は相応しくなかったからではないかと思われる。
（ちなみに前潟駅は盛岡市の田沢湖線に2023年開業予定）
Opened in 1952, 42 years after the opening of the Uno Line.
It was a bar line station for a long time, but it was upgraded to two sides and two lines by double tracking in 2009.
There are no commercial facilities around, and only regular trains stop.
The road through which the railroad crossing on the south side of the station passes is the boundary between Hayashima Town and Kurashiki City.
The station name Kuguhara is a small letter in Maegata, Hayashima-cho, but why didn't it become Maegata Station?
It seems that this is because Hayashima Station, which is the central station of Hayashima Town, is also located in Maegata, so Maegata Station was not suitable.
(By the way, Maegata Station is scheduled to open in 2023 on the Tazawako Line in Morioka City)
