Nice place to visit with good views. Though entry ticket to the tunnel seemed a bit pricey. Also good to park at the temporary parking space instead of queuing into the main carpark, it’s just an extra 5-10 min walk (with a great view) and can save up some waiting time.

Wow. A must see. The only issue: crowds. Avoid peak poplar times such as 紅葉. And get there early.

Worth the long walk. The bus normally run from about 1pm and have only once an hour or 2 hours. so please carefully check the schedule first. I recommended you to go to the information center in Echigoyuzawa station first for the details. From the bus stop also take about 30 mins walk and from the tunnel entrance also take around the same distance to the end of the tunnel. I went there by 1pm bus and came back by 5pm bus. there are 4 stops inside the tunnel. The first one you can clearly see the pattern of the rock which is beautiful like paint. The second one have the dome which is actually the toilet and one of them have the open view. The 3rd stop is the one with orange light mirror decorated on the wall and the last one is the one with the pool. You can walk on the side which is shallower. On that day, It was raining and following by the snow storm which made the tunnel be like the wind channel and it was super cold so be careful about the weather. But may be because of that, there are not so many people so I got a lot of great pic without crowd.

Good place to escape the summer heat and take some arty photos. At the final viewing tunnel, the best reflection occurs when the pond water is still of course - then walk across

Be careful if you go on winter season. The road is slippery but there is a maintenance on the snowy road.

This gorge is mainly famous for the tunnel of light and the round reflected photo that we can take at the end of the tunnel. But in summer the place is always crowded so it is difficult to take an artistic or personalized photo. If you want to enjoy the river in the gorge there is not much scope because the river near gorge is no so accessible and the waterfalls near the gorge was closed when we visited (may, 2021). The place is cold and can be very snowy so appreciate care should be taken when you are visiting in autumn, winter, or spring. The view on the way to the gorge is spectacular. They have some good cafes around the gorge where the beautiful nature view can be enjoyed.

I highlight the superb attendance service, from the parking are, with their shuttle bus to the waiting line for taking a photo at the last gorge. You must to walk up further 1 km to the last point. The waiting line is on the water, so it's better to take slippers. Wheter you wish to take a photo without people, much better to go as soon as it opens. Pets are allowed. There are souvenirs shops outside.

I went to Echigo Yuzawa station and waited for the bus. The bus schedule I search in the website. It's quite far from the bus stop. It takes about 40 minutes to walk. I went on a holiday so it was quite crowded. Couldn't take a good picture. Come to this place if you have enough time, about 2-3 hours to visit. Fee admission : 800¥/person
