歩くと次第に坂道が急激になって最後は階段へ変貌します
ですが目線を下に落とすと森の匂いや風景を一層楽しませてくれることでしょう

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 別荘地らしい景観が見られるものの特段なにかが存在するわけではない。面白くもなんともない。地図で「幸福の谷」とワザワザ表記する理由がわからない。行くだけ時間の無駄だったと思う。
Although there is a villa-like landscape, there is nothing special about it. It ’s not interesting. I don't know the reason why the map says "happiness valley". I think it was a waste of time to go.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ジョン・レノンも利用していた万平ホテルアルプス館ツインルームへチェックイン後、ホテル裏手にある別荘地を幸福の谷近くまで散策。紅葉樹からの優しい木漏れ日。ひんやり清んだ空気と苔むした石畳。軽井沢の真骨頂は此処にある。元々は中山道の地味な宿場町であり、たまたま来た外国人に見出された歴史ある別荘地であり、避暑地であり、リゾート地である。見どころ満載の観光地なんかではない。
After checking in at the Mampei Hotel Alps Building Twin Room, which was also used by John Lennon, we took a walk in the villa area behind the hotel to near the Valley of Happiness. Gentle sunbeams from the autumn leaves. Cool, clean air and mossy cobblestones. The true value of Karuizawa is here. Originally a sober post town on Nakasendo, it is a historic villa, summer resort, and resort that happened to be found by foreigners. It's not a tourist destination full of highlights.
