★ ★ ★ ★ ★ のどかな瓦葺きの駅舎が印象的な無人駅で、長らく年配の女性が切符を売ってました。自動券売機が設置されて、無人駅となってしまいました。
駅周辺は田舎の風景が広がっていて、広島市は広いなぁ～と思わずにはいられません。
なお、この駅から広島側は、ICカードが使えます。
また、この駅を終点とする列車もあり、ここから三次までは1時間に1本程度の運転本数になり、利用者も大幅に減ります。
なお、快速列車は、この駅を通過しますので、乗り過ごすと折り返すのが大変です。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 芸備線が豪雨の影響で広島から来て、ここから先は不通区間で現在折り返しの駅になっています。線路の上に角材が置いていてここから先は行けないという感じがとても寂しく感じました。三次までは、代行バスがでているようですがバス停までは少し離れた国道沿いにあるようです。１日も早く復旧してほしいです。復旧したら全線乗りにまた来ます。

狩留家駅から白木山駅まで歩いてみました。復旧したら秋に白木山の紅葉を楽しみに狩留家と白木を探訪してみたい。
