M	Maki S on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ お味噌の試食はできませんでしたが、購入しました。麹が入っている珍しいお味噌です。麹の香りがして、味もまろやか。火を通さず生で食べるのがオススメ。酢味噌やもろきゅうで頂きました。 I couldn't taste the miso, but I bought it. It is a rare miso that contains Jiuqu. It has the scent of Jiuqu and the taste is mellow. It is recommended to eat it raw without cooking. I had it with vinegar miso and morokyuu.

I had you write a red stamp and toured the inside of the main hall, but the sculptures and folding screens are wonderful. It was truly a famous temple in Echigo ☺️
R	Rufus Starbuck on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Kanko-ji is an old zen Buddhist temple with a long history. Head through the impressive main gate into the well-tended minimalist gardens. Up some stone steps and the main temple hall is in front of you surrounded by water. The inside of the temple is peaceful and scented by incense. Take a seat on the tatami mats and enjoy some green tea and a taste of the homemade miso which is a famous product of the monks at the temple and an important part of their diet. There are several important artifacts on display in the temple, as well as some weapons that were used to keep attackers at bay when the temple was attacked. A waterfall and pond out the back of the temple represent a dragon rising out of the water.
H	Harold Archer on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Now undergoing some repairs, this impressive temple and monastery is well worth the visit. It must be so cold and covered with snow in winter, but beautiful now. Check the nicely kept buildings, gardens, and details in the woodwork, craftmanship and of the deep history in the sign. The also have specially made monastery miso sold here, definitely look forward to try some with a fresh summer cucumber soon!
R	Ruby Lib on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A small Zen Buddhism temple in Yuzawa. Very calm and quiet place with surrounding of nature and small Japanese style garden. All the buildings were wooden. The home made miso was interesting. I've visited there in winter, there was a good scenery by the pond inside this temple was frozen. No entry fee. So I really want to see this place in a different vibe, such as in spring or autumn.
