★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 築城年代は定かではないが小瀬氏によって築かれたと云われる。 小瀬氏は佐竹貞義の子義春が上小瀬の地に住んで小瀬氏を称した事に始まる。 小瀬氏は佐竹氏の家臣として代々続き、佐竹氏が秋田へ転封になるまでこの地を支配した。
小瀬城は緒川とその支流の間を南北に長く伸びた標高171mの山に築かれている。 城の南端は無線中継塔のある辺りで、すぐ背後に小さな堀切がある。そこから北へは細尾根の堀切が続くが、主郭部辺りに到達すると広い曲輪と幅広の尾根を遮断する長い堀切に至る。長い堀切の北側、山頂周辺が主郭で、北は大きく下がって土塁の付いた曲輪があり、さらに北へ続き、北端の細尾根の堀切で終わる。 城のある山の東麓には広大な台地が拡がっており、ここに小瀬城の標柱とともに上ノ台遺跡の標柱が建っている。
 It is said that the castle was built by Mr. Ose, although the age of the castle is unknown. Mr. Ose begins when Yoshiharu, a child of Sadayoshi Satake, lived in the land of Kamiose and named him. Mr. Ose continued as a vassal of Mr. Satake for generations, and ruled this land until Mr. Satake was transferred to Akita.
Ose Castle is built on a mountain with an altitude of 171m that stretches from north to south between Ogawa and its tributaries. The southern end of the castle is near the radio relay tower, and there is a small moat just behind it. From there, the Horikiri of the Hosone continues to the north, but when it reaches the main enclosure, it leads to a long Kuruwa that blocks the wide Kuruwa and the wide ridge. On the north side of the long Horikiri, the area around the mountaintop is the main enclosure, and the north has a curved ring with earthworks, which continues to the north and ends at the northern end of the Horikiri. A vast tableland spreads out at the eastern foot of the mountain where the castle is located, and the pillars of the Uenodai ruins are built here along with the pillars of Ose Castle.
