★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A chain of standing steakhouses where you stand around a bar and eat your steak on a hot plate - the stand while you eat concept just migrated from sushi to steak and ikinari has popped up all over Tokyo. Shuts late at 11pm so perfect for the Japanese salaryman who wants a beef option to the usual late night fare of ramen or yakitori after the post work drinking session. This is a no frills steak on a hot plate in ten minutes or less kind of stuff so don’t go expecting Morton’s or Wolfgang’s - perfect for those who want to stay away from carbs late at night and don’t want to smoked up in a yakitori place . You can order sides but it’s not a wide range and the garlic rice is not something I would recommend m. Portions are generous and the meat is adequate . US$35 gets you 300g of the best cut of meat in the house so it’s great for the wallet
