★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice place to go with the kids, especially toddlers. There’s a petting zoo, a playground and a miniature train. The animals are much livelier than at ueno zoo, and the crowds much smaller.

It's a bit sad that now that our Grrrrrrrls are a bit older we don't get to visit this zoo each and every time that we are in Ishikawa, that we see their grandparents in Kanazawa. But we have many many sweet and wonderful memories of spending afternoons at this zoo...what a wonderful place!!!

Ichikawa City Zoo and Botanical Gardens is in Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture, right on the border of nearby Matsudo City.
It’s a very popular field trip destination for daycares and kindergartens in the area (Katsushika and Edogawa Wards, Ichikawa, Matsudo and Funabashi City).
