We had a special tour of the roof renovation work. I was able to directly feel the weight of history by listening to the stories of the people in the field.

The main hall and other areas are undergoing major renovation work, and it seems that it will continue for a while. I definitely want to go there again when all the construction work is completed.

This temple is called Honryuji Temple (Honryuji Temple for short), and is one of the 16 main temples of Kyoto under Nichiren, and is the head temple of the Houka sect Shinmon style. Kaisan was the son of Sir Nakayama Dainagon, Nisshin, and was given the title of Takashi Yamato by Emperor Go-Kashiwabara. In the 2nd year of Chokyo (1488), Dou was founded in Shijo Omiya. When he was a teenager, he was burned by the flames of the Kyoto Imperial Palace, and the master craftsman Sakuzaemon Sakagami was rebuilt in 1657. , The Nishijin area was used as a burnt field, but this temple is famous as a "non-burning temple" because it survived the burning by the spiritual test of the enshrined demon mother god. In the precincts of 3300 tsubo, there are the famous "Chiyo Noi" of Nishijin Goi and the "Night Crying Pine" derived from the 7th generation. It has various halls such as the main hall, Soushido, guest hall, Sankoden, bell tower, Kyozo, treasure house, south gate, and Tatchu Hachigain. The treasures include Nichiren Jojin's Great Mandala, Lotus Sutra, and 16 Rakan paintings. There are statues, three famous instruments, and the Lotus Sutra 70,000-character version of wood. Honryuji is a large temple surrounded by Chiekoin-dori in the east, Jofukuji-dori in the west, Itsutsuji-dori in the south, and Kamiritsu-dori in the north. When I was a kid, it was a nice playground. Large-scale repair work has been carried out since 2016. It is a legend of "Pine to stop crying at night". This is a story shortly before Nobunaga was settled in the world. This is a story about a pine tree on the side of the main hall in the precincts. At that time, there was a great boy named Honryuji at Honryuji Temple. One night, while I was working at the main hall, a young woman was standing in the precincts with her baby in her arms. A beautiful woman with long black hair and white hada was crying down and down. The same thing continued for several days the next day and the next day. The superior, who didn't care at first, was worried about the beauty and tears of the woman, and called out one night. "What's wrong, please tell me why. If it helps me ..." "Yes, I'm actually dead a week ago. However, I'm worried about this child and I can't become a Buddhahood, so at night I'm holding my child ..." "Yeah, that's right. Okay, I'll take care of the child, and let's put it in the Buddhist gate and raise it to a splendid ward." "You can really keep it, right?" The woman smiled for the first time and cried again. And when the superior received the child, he suddenly disappeared. The child grew up quickly in the temple, but at night, perhaps because he had no mother, he "cryed at night" and bothered his superiors. Each time, the superior went around the pine tree next to the main hall, catching the theme. Then, mysteriously, the child stopped crying and fell asleep. It is said that this child later became a magnificent priest named Nisshu Shonin and contributed to the prosperity of the temple. From this legend, it is said that if you take the pine needles home and lay them under your child's pillow, you will cry at night, and before the war, the leaves at the bottom of your hand will make you think that the pine trees will die. Was brought back and was crowded with common people's beliefs.

The main hall cannot be seen because it is currently undergoing major renovation, but the Soushido and the tower head create the atmosphere of the main mountain.
