大垣宿では本町大手門北側に位置し､もと関ヶ原の戦いで大垣城二の丸を守った七騎の一人
松井喜右衛門によって創立されたと云われていたが成立は戸田家の大垣入封に随従した上田家が勤めるようになったのは元禄の頃らしい
本町本陣とも呼ばれていた
