お	おだ天狗 on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 築城年は明らかではないが、一般には5代目美濃国守護土岐頼忠の築城とされる。頼忠は応永4（1397）年に没しているので、築城はそれ以前の南北朝時代であろう。頼忠の子頼益も、のちに萱津に移るまでは父についで本郷城にいた。土岐氏の家臣、国枝大和守為助は土岐氏が本郷城を出た後に、ここを居城とした。為助は明応4（1495）年、船田合戦で兄弟5人と共に討死したが、国枝氏は代々この城を居城とした。慶長5（1600）年、関ケ原の戦の時には国枝重元の弟修理亮政盛が城主であったが、西軍に属したため、東軍によって城も焼き払われてしまった。本郷城は二重の堀と土塁を巡らせた輪郭式平城である。城域は不整形な台形を呈し、東西116m、西辺149m、東辺68m程度の広がりを有する。地籍図にはよくその形態を遺すが、現在内内郭の櫓台を含む35m四方程が存在しているにすぎない。遺存部分は町の史跡として保存されている。 The year of construction is not clear, but it is generally said to be the 5th generation Mino national guardian Toki Yoritada. Since Yoritada died in Oei 4 (1397), the castle was probably built during the Northern and Southern Dynasties. Yoritada's child, Yorimasu, was in Hongo Castle after his father until he later moved to Kiyosu. Toki's vassal, Kunieda Yamato Mamorusuke, made this a castle after Toki left Hongo Castle. In 1495, Tamesuke died in the Battle of Funada with his five brothers, but Mr. Kunieda made this castle his residence for generations. In 1600, during the Battle of Sekigahara, Shigemoto Kunieda's younger brother, Tozawa Masamori, was the lord of the castle, but because he belonged to the West Army, the castle was also burned down by the East Army. Hongo Castle is a contoured flat castle with a double moat and earthworks. The castle area has an irregular trapezoidal shape, with an area of 116m east-west, 149m west, and 68m east. The cadastral map often retains its form, but at present there is only about 35m square including the turret of the inner hull. The remaining part is preserved as a historic site of the town.
