Kitagata Castle is a castle in the Warring States period located in Kitagata Town, Motosu District, Gifu Prefecture (Mushiroda District, Mino Province). It is said that the castle was built by Taro Igaemon Mitsutsugu during the Meiō era. The name of Mr. Ando was changed from Morinari Iga, the 4th owner of the castle, to Morinari Ando. Morinari initially served Toki Yorinari, but when Mino was taken by Dosan Saito, he served as a vassal of Dosan. Along with Yoshimichi Inaba and Naotomo Ujiie, he was called the Mino Triumvirate. In 1556 (Koji 2), he cooperated with Yoshitatsu in the conflict between Dosan and Yoshitatsu Saito (Battle of Nagara River), and served Tatsuoki Saito after Yoshitatsu's death. In 1567 (10th year of Eiroku), he responded to Nobunaga Oda's invasion of Mino with the other three people, served as Nobunaga's vassal, and continued to become the lord of the northern castle. However, in 1580 (Tensho 8), he was banished from Mr. Oda by Nobunaga on the charge of having communicated with Takeda Katsuyori of Kai, and Yoshimichi Inaba became the lord of the northern castle. In 1582 (Tensho 10), when the Honnoji Temple changed and Nobunaga was defeated by his vassal, Mitsuhide Akechi, Mamoru and his child, Naoto Ando, ​​took the northern castle and tried to revive it. However, he was attacked by Yoshimichi Inaba and was defeated, and the northern castle was abandoned. On the site of the northern castle, the northern camp was built in 1668 (Kanbun 8), and became the third son of Mitsushige Matsudaira, the lord of the Kano domain in Mino Province, Mitsunao Toda (Mitsushige Toda), and the 5,000 stone camp of Hatamoto in 1868. It survives until the year (first year of the Meiji era). The northern castle ruins were designated as a historic site designated by the prefecture in November 1973 (Showa 43).

Visited by visiting the castle. The view from here is wonderful. You can see not only Gifu but also the skyscrapers of Nagoya. It was a really wonderful castle ruins.
