(出典:相国寺HPより) After the death of Hideyoshi Toyotomi in August 1598, Shokokuji Temple was founded by Kazuhisa Saishotai, the 92nd generation of Shokokuji Temple. His teacher entered Shokokuji Temple on February 19, 1584 (Tensho 12). In July 1607, Ieyasu Tokugawa visited Toyokoji Temple, but on December 27th of the same year, Saishō Shotai was lonely. After that, Toyokoji was gradually abolished and burned down by the great fire of 1788 (1788), and was destined to be abolished. Kazuhisa Dokuonjoju was mourned for this, and in 1882 he merged with the Shoin Ryokaken and moved its guest house. It was newly built, and in 1886, it was rebuilt as a temple with a small amount of funds, with the donation of the congregation Gorobei Inoue's retreat. After the transition to Ogino Dokuon, in April 1899, a "retirement tower" was built by volunteers who attended the school. The inscription is by Tomioka Tessai. In addition, the forehead of Tetsusai on the front door, which says "Good Neighbor," conveys the heart of the Zen Master, who was told that all people are equal. The work of Ogino Dokuon, "Shokokuji Joten," and his remnants (deposited at the Shokokuji Museum of Art) have been handed down. The gate of Hokkoji is the Heikaramon, which dates back to the Momoyama period or the early Edo period. The pillars extend to the crotch on the side, which conveys an old tradition from the Heian period. (Source: From the Shokokuji website)
