Great shrine! Note that there is a ropeway nearby where you can take to the top for a scenery site

Himure Hachimangu : Himure Hachimangu Shrine is located at the foot of Mt. Hachiman in this area. The original form of shrine was built in here in 131. The shrine has a great historical significance for holding a meaning of old time famous poem. During the reign of Emperor Ichijo there were 2 shrines one on the top of the mountain and another one at the foot of the mountain. It was during the time of Toyotomi Hedeyori the location of the shrine was moved to the current place in order to build his castle on the top of the mountain. Trans-word+ : TGM Japan Guide

Came here when its snowing heavily, so so beautiful (has that Mount Koya vibe). Surrounded by dark atmosphere, mossy stones and tall trees everywhere. Almost no one here. Great place if you want to stop time and just forget everything.

Nice temple. Not sure of the significance, but many families with young toddler girls are here to pay respects. The little girls are all dressed up in traditional costumes. Pretty.

Large and beautiful shrine. It’s a nice stop on your way to or from the ropeways station. Fall leaves are nice here.

Pretty shrine found at the base of the chair lift. Also has lots of parking at the front for free when it's a quiet day.

The Shrine is the largest shrine in Omihachiman, Shiga Prefecture It had a lot of history behind. It was first established by Takenouchi no Sukune in 131. It houses the God of War and attracted many warlords to visit and worship. Today, the Sagicho Fire Festival is held here every March. It's worth visiting.
