御祭神は誉田別命。承久元（1219）年源氏滅亡に際し，河野内膳守が鶴岡八幡宮の御分霊を奉斎した。はじめは河野氏の氏神であったが，穴瀬村・金上村の鎮守となったそうです。承久元年とは，三代将軍源実朝が暗殺され，北条氏の執権政治が確立されていく時代の節目の年ですね。アクセスですが，県道2号水戸鉾田佐原線から東へ轍の道に入って150ｍ。途中北へ折れて300mまた轍の道を不安になりながら進みます。左右とも濃い樹木が続きますが，突然右手に日本全国の田舎特有の景色・・・つまり太陽光パネルの森が現れ，その先に鳥居が。雑木林の参道を歩むと，突き当たりに社が鎮座していらっしゃいました。傍らに「奉修復　八幡神社本殿」と記された碑があり，平成18年に改築されたとのこと。社の前の地面に大きめの石が並べられたように残されており，本殿とわざわざ書かれていることからして，昔はここに拝殿があったのかも知れないなと思いました。
