The following year, the prefectural office moved to Maebashi, but in the 6th year of the Meiji era, Gunma Prefecture merged with the northeastern part of Saitama to become Kumagai Prefecture, which has a prefectural office in Kumagai. Then, in the 9th year of the Meiji era, Kumagaya prefecture was abolished, and Gunma prefecture was established again (second) with Ota, Kiryu, Tatebayashi, etc., which were incorporated in Tochigi prefecture. With this, it is finally the current appearance of "Gunma prefecture in the shape of a crane dance". The prefectural office of the first Gunma prefecture was located in Takasaki, but when the prefectural ordinance changed from Sada Aoyama to Hideharu Kawase, it was moved to Maebashi. After that, when the second Gunma prefecture was established, the prefectural office was initially decided to be Takasaki, but it seems that Takasaki was not enthusiastic. The army was stationed at the former Takasaki Castle, and commerce was also developing as a transportation hub in Nakasendo, so Motohiko Katori, who became a Gunma prefectural ordinance from the Kumagaya prefectural ordinance, always set up the prefectural office in the town. Even if I said that it would lead to development, I could not get active cooperation. Upon hearing this, the raw silk merchants in Maebashi actively embarked on a bid campaign, funded 30,000 cars, prepared the prefectural office and official residence stipulated by the Katori Prefectural Ordinance, and are the current location. It is a nationally registered tangible cultural property built in 1933. Currently, it is partly used as a rental conference room, and in the room that was the governor's office, the introduction of the Prime Minister from Gunma Prefecture (there are 4 people!)
