A large bell tower built in 1678. The bell is cast in 1636 and is one of the three most famous bells in Japan. A huge bell that measures 3.3 meters in height, 2.8 meters in diameter, 30 centimeters in thickness, and 70 tons in weight. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 御影堂に前の少し広い境内の広場から階段を登ったところに大鐘楼があります。私はこんなに大きな鐘見たことがありません。見学で訪れたので、直接触らせていただいたのですが、鐘の厚みもすごいです。もちろん重さも半端ない重さです。高さ3.3メートル、直径2.8メートル、重さ約70トン。京都方広寺、奈良東大寺と並ぶ大鐘として知られています。除夜には17人の僧侶が心を込めて突かれるらしいです。昨年末のNHKの行く年来る年で、中継されたとのことです。ぜひご覧ください。
The Great Bell Tower is located up the stairs from the square on the slightly larger precinct in front of Mikagedo. I have never seen such a big bell. I came in for a visit, so I made direct contact, but the thickness of the bell is also amazing. Of course, the weight is odd. 3.3 meters high, 2.8 meters in diameter, weighs about 70 tons. 大鐘は高さ3.3m、口径2.8m、重さ約70トンあります。
寛永13（1636年）に鋳造され、日本三大梵鐘（ぼんしょう）の1つとして有名です。
除夜の鐘で、親綱1人、子綱を16人の僧侶が掛け声とともに引き、鐘をつきます。
大鐘楼は少し離れた場所にあり、坂道を登りおりしますが、『知恩院』の見どころの1つといわれていますので、ぜひ行って見てください。

At the joya no kane, 16 monks pull the main rope and the child rope with a shout and ring the bell.
The Great Bell Tower is a little far away and climbs the slope, but it is said to be one of the highlights of "Chion-in", so please go and see it.
