★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Googleマップ上での源太森のスポットが「源太森（カテゴリーは山頂）」と「源太森（カテゴリーは観光名所）」の二つが登録されてしまっているので、情報が分散しています。なので、こちらのスポット（観光名所）にも投稿しておきます。また近くに「源太森展望台」というスポットが登録されていますが、位置情報が間違っており、こちらのスポットあるいは「源太森（カテゴリーは山頂）」のスポットの方が正しい位置にあります。
標高1613mの八幡平山頂は展望がありませんが、標高1595mの源太森は茶臼岳、畚岳と並ぶ八幡平での展望地です。近くの茶臼岳、遠くに秋田駒ヶ岳・乳頭山を望むことができます。眼下には樹海が広がり、八幡沼火口湖が見えます。特に秋は草紅葉した八幡沼湿原が美しい眺めです。
Since two spots of Gentamori on Google Maps are registered, "Gentamori (category is mountaintop)" and "Gentamori (category is tourist attraction)", the information is dispersed. So I will post it to this spot (sightseeing spot) as well. Also, a spot called "Gentamori Observatory" is registered nearby, but the location information is incorrect, and this spot or the spot of "Gentamori (category is the summit)" is in the correct position.
There is no view of the summit of Hachimantai at an altitude of 1613m, but Gentamori at an altitude of 1595m is a viewing point at Hachimantai along with Mt. Chausu and Mt. Mokko. You can see Mt. Chausu nearby and Mt. Akita Komagatake and Mt. Below you can see the sea of trees and the Yawatanuma crater lake. Especially in autumn, the view of the Yahatanuma Marsh, which has colored leaves, is beautiful.

2016年10月2日と2018年10月15日の2度、茶臼岳山頂～源太森～八幡平山頂を歩きました。
岩手山を間近かに見える茶臼岳登山口の駐車場に車を停めて、先ずは茶臼岳山頂へ。黒谷地湿原でランチを取り、父と母が金婚式の記念に歩いた八幡平の思い出の地源太森を抜けて、草もみじ?の広がる木道を歩いて八幡沼･ガマ沼経由で山頂へ。鏡沼の紅葉も見事で八幡平レストハウスからはバスで茶臼岳登山口駐車場に戻りました。
紅葉の時期には近くの畚岳、三ツ石山を含めて必ず歩きたい八幡平です。
車中泊の旅をしながらも1泊させていただく大好きな宿「ゆきの小舎」も近くです
On a trip to climb the autumn leaves from Shinshu to Tohoku
I walked the summit of Mt. Chausu-Gentamori-Hachimantai mountaintop twice, on October 2, 2016 and October 15, 2018.
Park your car at the parking lot at the entrance to Mt. Chausu, where you can see Mt. Iwate up close, and head to the summit of Mt. Chausu. After having lunch in the Kuroyachi Marsh, we passed through Gentamori, the place of memories of Hachimantai, where my father and mother walked to commemorate the golden wedding anniversary, and walked along the wooden path where the grass maple ? spreads to the summit via Hachimantai and Gamanuma. The autumn colors of Kagaminuma were also wonderful, and I returned to the Chausudake mountain climbing entrance parking lot by bus from Hachimantai Rest House.
It is Hachimantai that you definitely want to walk, including the nearby Mt. Mokko and Mitsuishiyama during the fall foliage season.
The favorite inn "Yuki no Kosha", where you can stay overnight while traveling in the car, is also nearby.
