Founded in Kawachi Province. Moved to Kyoto during the Shoka era (1257-59). Emperor Gosai was revered by the imperial family, and Sakon-no-Sakura was planted, giving birth to another name for Sakuraji Temple. In addition, Toyotomi Hideyoshi donated a gourd of Sensei to pray for luck, and since he received the gourd of Sensei as a flag, it is also called "Gourd Temple" and amulet of gourd is given to Setsubun. Shingon sect. "Jifukuji Temple" Jifukuji Temple, one of the Kyoto Twelve Yakushi Sacred Grounds Association, No. 5 Jifukuji Temple, which is said to have benefits such as disease-free breathing and healing of illness, was the 52nd Emperor Saga, a monk named Shinsai, one of Kukai's ten great disciples during the Konin era (810-824). It is said that it was opened in Taihata Yasui (easy to Uzumasa) by the permission of Nou. After that, during the Kyoho era (1716-1735), Kazugami Michizora healed the illness of the Kita Mandokoro of the Takatsukasa family by praying. Moved to a place. Although it is a small temple that is not visited by tourists, the statue of Yakushi Nyorai, the principal image of this temple, is considered to be one of the seven mysteries of flooding. In the statue of Yakushi Nyorai in Jifukuji, there is a mysterious legend that the ear disease was cured after dedicating to Yakushi Nyorai through a five-colored string in the hole of the stone with a small hole and praying for 49 days. It is. After that, this Yakushi Nyorai was called "the god of the ears" and was said to be especially beneficial for ear diseases. By the way, this Yakushi Nyorai is commonly known as "Higiri Yakushi", but it decides the number of days to pray by yourself, that is, 49 days, 100 days, etc. It seems that it became such a name because it prayed. "Commonly known as: Gourd Temple" Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Sensei Gourd was dedicated to praying for luck, and Hideyoshi who apologized for his virtues donated the temple territory, so it is famous as Gourd Temple. The temple gate is relocated from the Kujo family and has a dignified attitude. Once a year, the gate is opened on Setsubun Day, and the desired "Gourd Amulet / Shichifuku Invitation" and "Treasure Amulet" are awarded. This temple is called a gourd temple because of the "gourd amulet" given by this temple. This gourd is based on a practice called "Chintamoni training" that Kobo Daishi learned in China a long time ago. Ruyi means that you can do what you want. A jewel is a mysterious ball that allows you to do whatever you want. When two of these balls are piled up, they can be received as a talisman for gourds on the day of Setsubun from what looks like a gourd.
