★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had a wonderful experience here at Fujiya. Nicely modified to a luxurious western style still you can see traditional Japanese aspects as well. The dinner course that we had was S set, was a generous amount of food and exquisite. I'd definitely love to come back again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As far as I know, Fujiya haven't got many guest rooms, we were lucky to be able to reserve one, just days before our arrival.
It is undoubtedly a luxurious onsen, very modern and designed by a famous Japanese architect, Kengo Kuma.
The staff are very professional, friendly and helpful. We were impressed by the service as well as the facilities. We really enjoyed our stay here, especially the evening walk along the Ginzan river, with the beautiful street lightings wearing only yukata and geta. By the way, there is no community bath here, Kashikiri only ( 5 of them ). Those who are after privacy, this ryokan would be perfect.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A quaint rustic onsen town, entire town, albeit small town, line with a total of 13 hot spring inns.
Extremely hard to book a night, especially if you are a foreigner. Fujiya's prices are high but service is top notch, food is top notch, the 5 private hot spring baths are top notch. The architecture and interior design in itself is a treat and a reason to stay here. However, the building is starting to show its age, there are scratches scars in crooks and crannies. One of the bath's showerhead is broken when I visited, on the the bath's cold water valve's knob is missing, rendering it impossible to adjust the bath's temperature. Honestly, would expect the building to be in pristine condition for the price they are charging.
However, all being said, it is still an experience by itself just staying here.
