Stayed here with my family from December 22-23, 2019. Food is abundant here for dinner and breakfast. Staff are very polite, friendly and helpful. The elegant ryokan was not new but Kings also stayed.

These pics are real. The bathroom (in the room) is very terrible (those public ones in the rest area are even better!). It is also smelly. The public onsen in the hotel is quite small and old but ok to use. If you want to stay in the room like the one being shown on google pictures, you may need to reserve their big room only. Inside the room was quite hot and the heater was already off. I called the staff for some help and a few minutes later they brought me a fan. The hotel had a sign saying not to open the window to prevent the insect get into the room. It was quite hard to stay in the room that I paid for over 200USD a night. In conclusion: you should stay in other hotels And the one thing I like is internet Wi-Fi is good.

After spending a night in Zao onsen at an unbelievable 50000 yen ( with breakfast and dinner), arriving in Kansyokan was a relief, and appeared a real bargain, at 20000 yen, with breakfast and dinner. The welcome was very friendly, with a high tea free for guests, where quality coffee and snacks were available. The room, quite tiny, had all the comfort and amenities, with a small screen TV that has seen better days, and limited channels (no English(. Once we settled in, we decided to immediately test the on site onsen. As usual, it's divided between make and female. The male.part has an indoor and outdoor onsen, and both baths are very hot, orobNky around 42 degrees. There is no cold bath, but cod water is available from the Japanese type shower. The outside onsen being at ground level, I was able to grab some snow, and friction my skin between two baths, as an alternative to cold shower.. I love that feeling of alternative temperatures changes, so invigorating. The dinner was a work of art, with all the meals on the table . It was a mixed of small hot pot, very fresh sashimi, a fantastic BBQ Shitake mushroom, with a few other meals, to end up with a beautiful sesame ice cream. The drinks were not included, and ordered 2 glasses of hot sake .... Breakfast was pretty good as well, with a wide choice of available food, more Japanese and Asian style, but with a few western style options as well. Coffee was excellent, being freshly brewed. So why 4 stars and not 5 ? Well, the hotel has seen better days, and the carpets are and look quite old, but the worst part is the dirt and dust that has accumulated between the Japanese screens and the windows, innthe rooms corridors. I happen to pull this paper /wood screens, that are very clean in the outside, but that obviously hide a lot of dust being them. So apparently everything looks clean in the surface, the reality seems different. It's a pity because it's easy to fix This hotel has seen famous people staying at their premises, and it's a scandal not to take care of cleanliness better than that. All in all, a very good stay, but there is room for improvement in the cleanliness department ?

The food was amazing! We were so full and amazed. Onsen was small but very nice indoor and outdoor. Be careful coming here and make sure you check train times in advance as they are very limited during the day.

This hotel had its good days a long time ago. Walls, doors, doorsills show stains and much wear and tear. Carpets are heavily stained. Cleanliness is lacking. The spa is unremarkable. A very small outdoor bath overlooks a garden that would be nice if it were attended to. The meals are nice and staff mostly very friendly. The largest problem with this hotel is that it‘s totally overpriced. Seeing the effort that has gone into the good hotel website I felt mislead.

Very good location. Nice hotel facilities and spacious room for 5 people. The hotel onsen is correct, though there is enough space to expand its outer section, which in our opinion is too small for a hotel of these dimensions. The price was slightly high for the service. Anyway, it is a decent option near Naruko and Ginzan.
