太田道灌が江戸城に祀ったのが始まりだという。その後当地に遷座したが、関東大震災、東京大空襲と2度焼失した。1958年に有志により再建され現在に至る。
年期の入った社殿で外観は倉のよう、鳥居が無ければ神社とは分からないですね。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 千代田神社と言うものの、中央区にある神社。これは千代田村と呼ばれて江戸城内の地にあった稲荷社を、住民と共に慶長年間（1596-1615）に当地へ移転したことから、旧地名を冠して千代田稲荷と称したためと言われている。
創建年代は不詳ながら、太田道灌が御霊を千代田の御城に祭り鎮守としたことに由来するらしい。徳川綱吉の時、太田の旧臣、長野氏詞を奉じて小傳馬町に遷座し、その後の経緯がよくわからないが、度々異変があったことから、天明年間に現在の場所に建立されたそうだ。
大正12年（1923）に関東大震災で焼失、昭和20年（1945）の東京大空襲（下町空襲）で再度焼失したものを再建して現在に至っている。とても小さい社ながら、紆余曲折の歴史があったのだ。
