Y	Yasuhiro on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 神名帳の常陸國那賀郡の項に記載のある式内社。社名の読み方について、現在は「あわさんしょう」と読むが、「あわやまのうえの」と読んでいたようだ。なお、三代実録には「阿波神」として記載がある。忌部氏が阿波國から安房國へ、そして茨城県南部、さらに北上して当地に来た痕跡のように思うが、社伝にはその記録はない。当社は社伝によると、大宝元年（701）の創建。少彦名命が粟の穂を手にして童子の姿で老木に降臨したという。御祭神は主祭神が少彦名命。この老木は降子の大杉といい、参道にあった。昭和47年9月に落雷があり、その翌年に伐採された。今は石垣で囲まれている。・社伝によると、少彦名命は大國主命の到着をこの地で待っていたが、来なかった。そのため「待つのはつらい」ことから、この神社の近隣では今でも松を植えないとのこと。・この境内の入口、鳥居の脇に大山草庵の跡がある。これは親鸞上人が越後から常陸に入って、布教の中心とされた場所と伝わっている。そして、この場所は開宗宣言の地とされるので、もっと有名であってもいいように思う。当時この大山には師であった法然上人の門下であった行観上人が開いたという阿弥陀寺があって、親鸞上人は1216年にこの所縁の寺を訪ねて、境内に草庵を結んだといいます。 Shikinaisha listed in the section of Naka-gun, Hitachi Province in the Shinto name book.
